The Samsung T301 features a large 2" color screen that is bright and easy to read with a sliding keypad that has great tactile response. Though it has a fairly large screen for a phone this size, the sliding keyboard allows for a very compact form factor that fits nicely in the pocket without butt dialing issues. Another notable item on the Samsung T301 is the basic data capability allowing you to download MP3 ringtones and Java games. That being said, if you want data, check out Straight Talk because Tracfone data rates are on the expensive side.
The phone also features a 1.3 mega pixel camera with decent zoom feature. As far as functionality goes, the signal strength and voice quality are both excellent and do not disappoint. Overall, this is an excellent and durable handset that is built to last. I really couldn't find or point out anything I didn't like about it (Built in MP3 player and/or video recording capabilities would have been nice like the Samsung SCH-r610 which is a souped up version of this phone). This phone is easily one of the better entry level Tracfones to date and adds yet another style to the Tracfone lineup for those who do not want the typical candy bar or flip style phones.
Tracfone did a good job keeping the price point low for a phone of this quality and since it includes the Double Minutes for Life, it is an Excellent deal. If you are in the market for a new low priced Tracfone I highly recommend this one. Check out the Motorola EM326g from Net10 if you want a slider with music features yet still want low prepaid rates.
